FRBC Wins Sports Business Innovation Award!
We extend our heartfelt thanks to The Sports Business Awards judges, plus the Fulham Reach Boat Club Members and supporters whose support enable us to deliver the Boats Not Bars programme.
A special thanks goes to the HMPPS staff who facilitate its implementation on the ground.
Boats Not Bars aims reduce reoffending, and create inclusive communities through the power of sport:
Operating in six prisons, with over 120 participants in the last eight months, BnB contributes to making prison a one-time punishment for a crime, rather than the initiation of an endless cycle of offending and imprisonment. With prisons at capacity and millions of pounds allocated to increasing prison spaces, this simple yet effective intervention offers a viable way to reduce the likelihood of reoffending. Boats Not Bars is dedicated to transforming lives through rowing and community support.
Free FRBC membership post-release and access to our support networks provides 'through the gate' support to help break the reoffending cycle.
Indoor rowing courses are led by experienced and passionate coaches, such as World Champion Rower and ex-GB athlete, Imogen Walsh.
