Thames 100 Success!
Thames 100
Over a week in the Easter holidays, 36 students from the First Row program took part in a 100 mile relay row from Trinity College Oxford, all the way back to FRBC. The aim of the row was to partly raise funds for each of the school boat clubs but also to give the students a great experience on the river and ignite their passion for the sport.
Each crew of four covered at least 10 miles with two crews even completing 20 miles each! Schools involved included Burlington Danes, Cardinal Vaughan and Hammersmith Academy. The final leg (into a flood tide) was completed by the Fulham Reach Junior Squad.
During the week our First Row schools were exposed to some wonderful opportunities including a tour of Trinity College Oxford, meeting GB Sculler Imogen Walsh as well as a tour of the world famous Leander Club. This was a wonderful opportunity for us to continue minimising barriers to the sport, expose students to new challenges and show them some beautiful countryside on the way. Take a look at our video for some great highlights.
