Sport Positive Outstanding Community Initiative Award Shortlisted
We are delighted to announce that Fulham Reach Boat Club has been shortlisted for the Sport Positive Outstanding Community Initiative Award, alongside a truly inspiring group of global nominees.
This award recognises organisations that prioritise sustainability, reduce environmental impact, and actively engage their communities in positive environmental action.
At FRBC, we aim to be strong environmental role models and to inspire Londoners of all ages and backgrounds to take action through the sport of rowing. Since January 2024, we have:
Removed more than 1,586 kg of rubbish from the River Thames
Introduced an electric coaching boat and charging station
Engaged over 250 citizen scientists in water quality testing
Through our free programmes for state school students and young people from underrepresented communities, we are proud to combine sport, sustainability, and social justice.
This achievement would not be possible without the dedication of our volunteers, partners, and funders. We are deeply grateful to the Port of London Authority, Sport England, Hammersmith & Fulham Council, River Action UK, British Rowing, Earthwatch Europe, Washed Up Cards, and Friends of the Thames for supporting this important area of growth for our charity.
