Quiz Night - thu 24th Feb

We are delighted to announce the first fundraising event of 2022 - a classic quiz night, in real life, no Zoom required!  The evening is open to all, including rowers, coaches, staff, parents of juniors, friends of the club, your family and friends and the local community (n.b. 18+ for licensing reasons).  All profit proceeds will support Fulham Reach Boat Club’s mission and purpose to improve lives through rowing by providing “Rowing for All”.

Event Details

7:00pm to 9:30pm, Thursday 24 February 2022

Venue: Latymer Upper School

Tickets include pizza and a raffle ticket with quiz prizes for the winning quiz team.  You can also raffle tickets, even if you can’t make it to the quiz.  There will also be a cash (contactless) bar to keep the mind lubricated (18+ obviously).

Raffle prizes 

Top prize - lunch/dinner at Brasserie Blanc for 2 with bottle of wine

2nd prize - 1:1 rowing lesson at FRBC

3rd prize - bottle of fizz

To enable planning for catering and drinks, please don’t book too late so we can ensure we don’t under cater or waste food with surplus.

The Latymer Foundation has a long history of promoting social mobility through education, going all the way back to 1624. As well as its extensive bursary provision for bright, young people attending Latymer Upper and Prep Schools, the Foundation is also well known and well regarded for the extensive array of ‘outreach’ programmes and events, which reflects the school’s strong social ethos. Latymer’s active outreach programme provides resources to local state schools and community projects. Fulham Reach Boat Club and Latymer enjoy a close relationship, using their collective resources to realise their charitable aims for the benefit of local people. A number of Latymerian alumni are also coaches at Fulham Reach. For the quiz night, Latymer has generously donated use of their premises in order to help fundraising activity for Fulham Reach Boat Club.

Local family run business, Clark Foyster are kindly supporting FRBC and have experience of rowing at the club. Clark Foyster Wines imports fine wine from countries including Austria, France, Georgia, Greece, Madeira, Portugal, New Zealand & Australia, for most wines as direct importer and in many cases exclusive agents. Their wine growers are generally small family-run estates producing wines to the highest standards.

Beer sponsor

Chadlington Brewery are our generous beer sponsors for the evening. They are located just outside the village of Chadlington in the West Oxfordshire countryside, near Chipping Norton. Including The Boat Race lager, they brew using only natural ingredients including Oxfordshire spring water and the finest English hops and malt. Delivery to London and nationwide!

Raffle prize supplier

Brasserie Blanc Fulham Reach is a short walk along the riverbank from the boat club and have been hosts to the club's events, including the last two annual black tie dinners. They have provided the first prize for the raffle, dinner/lunch for two people including a bottle of wine.

Prize supplier for the Quiz winning team

Asahi Fullers own the famous Griffin Brewery on the Chiswick bankside of the famous Thames Boat Race course which hundreds of rowers see every week. Local to the boat club, Asahi Fullers will invite the winning quiz team members to a Brewery Tour (usual cost of tour per person is £20).
