Henley Masters Regatta Race Report
We are so proud of the crews we had representing FRBC at Henley Masters and everyone did really well.
Crew: 4 x Tatham: Roxana, Penny, Linnea & KateThe Tatham crew competed in the Women's Masters C Quad and did fantastically well! The fact that they are Henley finalists is something to be celebrated! Here's an overview of their racing:
Heat - beat Tideway Scullers
Semi Final - beat Marlow RC
Final - lost to Falcon BC
Roxana reflected on her experience: “Henley Masters can be quite a nerve-racking experience. After months of preparation, a long week of logistics, carrying the boat on our shoulders for miles, de-rigging and rigging, and some nail-biting competition, we have come a long way and are very proud of our performance.
What did I think about the experience? Never take for granted the power of your community and supporters! From the ones making sure our boat (and oars) were ready, the subs filling in for us when we were not able to make it to practice, those cheering us both in person and in soul; our families, friends, and coaches: we heard you all the way and that kept us going.
For me, the journey to compete has been quite empowering, I'm extremely grateful to my crew for pushing me to have a goal and just do it.”
Penny shared: “The *BIGGEST* thank you to all the members who came to support! It means so much to see you there and hear you. ??”
Crew: 2 x Bolton: Leo & Andy
The Bolton crew raced in the Open Masters B Double category and lost in the Semi Final to Rob Roy BC.
Leo shared: "Henley Masters was a great experience. Although we had a nice race, we didn't make it to the finals. Andy and I started in a double just a couple of months ago and we grew as a crew, session after session. Thanks to all the coaches for the continues support, patience and positive vibes!"
Andy shared: "I'd just like to thank the support we received, from everyone at FRBC, the coaches, the other crews and my crew mate. But in particular two people really stand out, Kate and Coach Mel. Kate was the central communication for everything getting us all in the right place at the right time, not an easy feat. Mel was such a star, going above and beyond the call of regular coach duty. Showing us how to rig, store, and transport boats safely. Thank you both and thank you all!"
Crew: 4x Botero: Jo, Sophia, Catherine & Allison
The Botero crew raced in the Women's Masters D Uncoxed Quad and lost to Newark RC in the heat.
Sophia shared: “Could we please give a HUGE shout out to coaches Mark and Mel for wonderful encouragement and support.”
Also, huge congratulations to Coach Mel for being a Henley Masters Winner! With thanks to Bryan, Mel, Sophia and Leo for sharing your photos. Thanks to Penny, Leo, Andy, Sophia and Roxana for sharing your thoughts and words of thanks. We love sharing Members' experiences, so are always grateful for your contributions!
