FRBC Monster the Loch race report
Huge congratulations to FRBC Members Marco, Teresa, Richard, Emily and their Cox Lesley, who took on Monster The Loch last weekend. Monster the Loch is the first mass participation boat race on Loch Ness, The Loch is 21 miles long, 1 mile wide.
Emily shared her experience:
"It was one of the best experiences I’ve had in a long time, I was so surprised how much energy we had even at the end, and so proud of the team for keeping going at such a consistent pace for the entire duration of the row.
Our stroke count actually increased throughout the day and was the highest in our last sprint towards the end! Conditions were good, we had music and food and the general team spirit was brilliant - we’re already looking forward to next year!"
Teresa shared:
"Monster The Loch was an incredible experience that is still sinking in! We managed a very decent time in an unknown water, over a long distance and on a coastal boat, which none of the crew, except our expert local cox Lesley, had previous experience. Well done to my crew mates for their tenacity and great spirits.
Must be said that FRBC taught us well to row as a crew in all circumstances! Thanks to Richard Caddis for the initiative and to Lesley for being the best cox and for her highland's hospitality!! It was also a great opportunity to meet the wider man-powered boat community from all across the UK and overseas."
Lesley, the crew's cox for Monster The Loch shared:
"Unlike last year's experience, the race direction was changed as was the sky colour!! Also the conditions were much tougher at the end as the wind and the chop increased. So too did the determination of the crew to dig deep and power on to the end, managing a great time."
Congratulations to all the crew on what looks like a wonderful experience in a stunning setting!
