Salary: £15,000 - £20,000 depending on experience
Hours: Part-Time, 20 hours per week
Annual Leave: 24 days pro rata + 8 Bank Holidays

Role Overview
The Community Adult Lead Coach is the strategic and operational lead for our adult membership at FRBC. You will coordinate, coach, and manage our adult squad programme – while overseeing the development and engagement of volunteers, ensuring smooth communication across teams, and maintaining high standards in coaching, safety and delivery.
This is a highly visible, multi-faceted role requiring both on-the-ground coaching and behind-the-scenes planning and admin. The ideal candidate will thrive in a busy environment, have a collaborative leadership style, and share our passion for inclusivity and community.
Key Responsibilities
1. Coaching & Programme Delivery
Lead and/or oversee adult sessions including weekday mornings/evenings and weekends (not this does not need to include coaching on them).
Design, structure and maintain the training programme across squads including land training and water sessions.
Ensure consistency in outcomes for Learn to Row pathway, new member assessment sessions, and Recreational Sign off.
Develop squad benchmarks, progression structures, and performance testing.
Promote and deliver add-on courses (e.g., Sculling Courses, Beach Sprint Courses) and private session opportunities.
Coach and develop new session coaches to ensure standards are upheld.
2. Membership Strategy & Administration
Oversee and update the Adult Membership Handbook, policies, and “Tips of the Week”.
Manage new joiners/leavers, payments, waiting list, and membership records, membership secretary.
Support communication and approvals for race entries, competence checks, and equipment suitability.
3. Communication & Engagement
Serve as the key contact for all adult membership, coaching, and volunteering queries.
Communicate session updates, safety messages, and programme details.
Attend and contribute to weekly staff meetings, safety meetings, and monthly Squad Rep meetings.
4. Events, Racing & Charitable Participation
Coordinate with Race Committee event entries and race calendar.
Organise in-house events and marshalling; attend external events as needed (trailer driving where qualified).
Promote and coordinate volunteer participation in charitable initiatives (e.g., Boats Not Bars) and FRBC’s social/fundraising events.
5. Safety, Governance & Inclusion
Ensure all activities follow British Rowing RowSafe, Tideway Code and FRBC Safety policies.
Monitor and promote adult safeguarding, inclusion and member wellbeing.
Maintain high safety standards across all sessions; ensure policies are up to date and communicated.
Encourage skill-sharing and volunteering within the adult community.
Essential Skills & Experience
Minimum 2 years coaching experience with club or squad
British Rowing Level 2 Coaching Qualification
RYA Level 2 Powerboat Licence
Adult Safeguarding qualification
Excellent communication and administrative skills
Comfortable with digital tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Ludum, spreadsheets, email marketing)
Team player with a proactive, flexible attitude
Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable Skills & Experience
Experience coaching on the Tideway and trailer towing
Familiarity with volunteer coordination
Experience with adaptive rowing or vulnerable adult programmes
Confident contributing to social media and basic video content
