British Beach Sprint Champs & Maidenhead Regatta Race Report
British Rowing Beach Sprint Championships
Five junior squad members - Herbert, Freya, Vita, Chastyn and Ava - headed up to St Andrews for the British Rowing Beach Sprint Championships, along with Coaches Yewande, Al and Tashi.
It was the first time racing on the sea for three of the juniors, and taking part in a Beach Sprint event, but they really took to the competition and learned a lot from those who had raced on the sea before. They all raced in doubles and solos, getting experience of how both boat types handle differently on the race course.
A special shoutout to our incredible coaches, Yewande and Tashi, who also raced over the weekend in a women's double and came away with a bronze medal!
Maidenhead Regatta
Congratulations to our Adult Novices Olivia, Oliver, Angeliki, Andrew and Kisha who progressed through three races to win the Mixed Rec Quads at Maidenhead Regatta!
Cox was Angeliki, then stroke Andrew, seat 3 Oliver, seat 2 Kisha and bow Olivia.
Olivia shared the following:
"During the final we actually rowed on 7 blades, as the bow blade got stuck after they caught a crab. We still won but it was pretty close as it was creating drag."
With huge congratulations to the crew on this fantastic effort and for representing FRBC!
