Ball Cup Race Report
A huge congratulations to all our junior rowers who took part in the Ball Cup and gained great experiences of rowing side-by-side regatta racing, and coming away with 1 Gold and 3 Bronze medals.
Junior rower Odhran shares the experience:
The Ball Cup, which took place at the world-famous venue of the 2012 Olympics, was the first Juniors' Regatta of the year and, for many, the first-ever race. Over 80 per cent of the boats, made up of singles, doubles, and quads, qualified for finals. We had an impressive haul of medals, including a gold medal and a sprinkling of bronzes. It was really fun to compete and cheer on my fellow juniors as they went down the course and be cheered on. One such instance was during the J17 heat and final, the juniors, who finished racing ran down the whole length of the course cheering me on.
The atmosphere was fantastic; thank you, parents, for getting up early to bring us all the way to Eton Dorney and for the spectacular, encouraging cheering and to the tremendous teammates for cheering from the bank. Finally, thanks to our coaches, who helped organise us on the water with our race strategy and for the consistent help every week at training.
Everybody had a great time and gave it their all, and we had such fun and laughs.
This is why Fulham Reach is a fantastic club.
