a most beautiful thing - film screening at leander club
On Friday 3rd September from 6.30pm, FRBC will be holding a charity screening of the iconic rowing documentary, A Most Beautiful Thing, at the world famous Leander Club in Henley-on-Thames.
A Most Beautiful Thing is a 2020 documentary film chronicling the history of the first US African American public high school rowing team, composed of young men from the West Side of Chicago, many of whom were in rival gangs. The film is narrated by Common, directed by filmmaker and Olympic rower Mary Mazzio, and produced by NBA athletes Grant Hill and Dwyane Wade along with 9th Wonder who also did the hip-hop score for the film.
After the film we will also be joined virtually by Arshay Cooper for a Q&A about how the sport has impacted his life. Arshay is a Rower, Benjamin Franklin award-winning author, the protagonist of this critically acclaimed film, a Golden Oar recipient for his contributions to the sport of rowing, motivational speaker, and activist, particularly around issues of accessibility for low-income families.
Tickets are on sale for £30 each with all proceeds going directly towards FRBC's vision of 'Rowing for All'. There is a maximum of 95 tickets available, to secure your tickets please fill out the form below and we will be in touch about payment.
