Vets Head race report

The Vesta International Masters Head of the River Race 2024!

Last Sunday was the Masters Head Of The River Race and we were so proud to have rowers representing FRBC in five crews that took part!

FRBC had the one and only Octuple on the day of Emma, Chris, Bryan, Henry, Niklas, Abby, Iona, Chiyo and Louise, Chris shares insight into their experience:

"We may have been the 3rd to last boat at the start (& finish!) of the Vets Head & the only Octo in the race, but for what was the first Head race for most of the crew it was an amazing experience.

We had some great prep in the week or two before the race from coaches Mel, Mark & Andrew (even the dry land erg run through - Mel, we may never forgive you for that) which made all the difference on the day as we were brilliantly briefed on what happens step by step on the day, the whole process of marshalling (not a barrel of laughs but made bearable by our fantastic cox Emma who kept spirits up as we inched our way to the start) and our race plan. 

The race itself seemed to pass in a bit of a blur but we finished, didn't get disqualified, didn't hit anything & made a respectable time (at least that's our story).  A great experience, definitely to be recommended and, to repeat, so much credit due to our amazing FRBC coaches and cox Emma!"
